We dedicated the 14th issue of Gazeta Monnet to "The Tenth Muse" in order to encourage our authors to engage their cinematic fancies. What makes us so absorbed by the stories on the silver screen? Can we see the beauty of our world better through film than through a book? After all, when we get a finished product, is there any the room for imagination?

In my opinion, literature and films, especially those well-made, are testimonies to our humanity, both the good and the cruel. As in the case of the authors of the current issue, the silver screen and fascination with film have accompanied me for many years. I like both crazy comedies and bloody horrors. From a young age, I have been fascinated by television. My parents would constantly chase me (and rightly so) away from the TV, and usher me to study. I would invariably return to the screen to watch, for example, my favourite horror film, The Fearless Vampire Killers by Polański, or the hilarious comedy Miś by Bareja. I was also fascinated by TV series, such as Janosik with Marek Perepeczko or 3rd Rock from the Sun with John Lithgow. Films accompanied me in moments of joy and sadness. Often, when I see a film, I am reminded of the moment in my life when I first saw it. Do the authors of this issue of Gazeta Monneta have similar reflections? Has cinema not lost to TikTok, as some adults think?

Multiple new films by young directors are constantly released in cinemas. We have just been through the Oscars, the American Film Academy. I trust that soon some new films will be created by our students in Monnet International School. Maybe we will also be able to establish a new school film club. Cinema is a very important factor in creating culture. Streaming is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the tastes of the audience. On March 3, our school was visited by the star of an outstanding Polish series, Masza Wągrocka. Mothers of Penguins, currently available on one of the streaming services, tells an extraordinary story of parents taking care of children with disabilities. During our interesting meeting, the actress told us about working on the series and allowed us a peek behind the curtains, for example, by talking about the process of preparing for a role and showing us what it's like to work on a film set. After the meeting, students approached me and asked if we could organize more events like this. Young people are curious about the world of film and crave contact with inspiring figures. At Monnet, we will try to familiarize them with the Tenth Muse and recommend our students important works of cinematography. I am glad that we have created another issue of the school magazine, in which we can share our authors' film fascinations with the readers. I invite you to what I know will be an inspiring read!
