This school year, we went to a language trip to Malaga, Spain. We had a lot of fun, made many memories, created strong bonds with people we hadn’t known before, and developed skills in a new language. In this article, we will discuss the benefits of such journeys.
A trip like this is a great occasion to bond with your classmates and other students. Before this holiday, we didn’t really have a chance to talk with Year 1 students. Nothing gets people closer than a shared vacation. We left Poland without knowing them closely and returned with new, strong friendships. Being new to Monnet International School, one of us found this a great opportunity to get used to new surroundings. They started this school year knowing only about three people, and now they have established a great rapport with not only our grade, but students from all classes.
Another benefit of this trip was the beautiful places we saw. Every day after our classes ended, we had a few hours of free time to eat lunch and spend time with our friends, after which we attended different activities. We participated in dance and cooking lessons, visited the Picasso Museum and the Museo Interactivo de la Música, in which we enjoyed workshops of creating musical pieces and learning art techniques that Pablo Picasso himself used in his craft. On the weekend, we visited two different villages as well as explored a cave and climbed a mountain with picturesque views awaiting us at the very top.
The whole point of the entire voyage was to learn Spanish. We were both beginners, and we were still welcome in the school and found a group for our level. Four forty-five-minute-long lessons for five days we had really improved our skills and made us able to communicate with the family we stayed with for a week.
Although we missed a week of school, this was an unforgettable trip that will forever stay in our hearts. Skipping a few lessons was absolutely worth the amazing memories we made, language skills we developed, people we befriended, and places we visited.
Thank you to Ms Katarzyna Burzyńska for organising the trip, and special thanks to Ms Agnieszka Pączkowska and to Beyoncè.
