This review contains some tiny spoilers and one big one.
Fahrenheit 451 is an excellent book written by Ray Bradbury. The main character, Guy, lives in a horrible dystopia. He lives in the future where they have all sorts of new technologies. Blood transferring machines, mechanical dogs and screens on every wall are examples of things they have. The author named the novel like this because books burn at 451 degrees Fahrenheit, and Guy is a firefighter who burns as many books as possible.
The plot shows us what could possibly happen in the future: screens everywhere and literature being illegal. The story is way different than others, which makes the book unique. Bradbury uses flowery language and explains everything really well. There are lots of cool inventions in the book which we could possibly have in the future. Time goes by incredibly fast when you read this book. You can see the harsh truth of how screens and modern technology can take over our lives.
I’ve heard several complaints from my friends that they didn’t understand what was going on in the novel. Bradbury uses language which some people may not understand. In some parts the plot goes really slowly, which is why the book may seem boring. Many people prefer utopias, but this book is the complete opposite.
Spoiler alert! It also doesn’t have a good ending: a bomb drops on the city, and everyone dies.
In conclusion, I recommend reading the book and later watching the movie to help you understand what happens. It’s boring at times, but if you don’t have much to do, it’s a worthwhile novel.
