A&A sports review

Since the last edition of our school paper a lot has happened in the world of football. The most exciting part, of course, are the European Leagues semi-finals - we now know all the finalists of the 3 leagues.

Starting from the least famous one, we’ve got the Europa Conference League, where in the final Roma will face Feyenoord. An interesting fact about this final is that after AS Roma beat Leicester City, The Special One has become the first manager to reach the final of Europa Conference League, Europa League and Champions League. We will soon find out if he becomes the first to win all these three titles. In Europa League the mighty Eintracht secured their win from the first leg over West Ham and Rangers smashed Lipsk 3:1 after losing 1:0 in the first match. Sadly, the Villareal love story in the Champions League has ended, and even though in the first half of the second leg all of us were given hope, the yellow submarine was sunk down by Liverpool. The rivalry between Real Madrid and Manchester City was the most interesting out of all the matches. The first match, which took place in Manchester, was a great show, as the first goal was scored in the second minute, the game ended with 4:3 on the scoreboard, so the only hope for Real Madrid was the game at home. The Spanish club kept its fans in suspense up until the 90th minute, when Rodrygo started the comeback, just a minute later he scored the second goal which took the game into overtime. Benzema completed Real’s comeback by scoring a penalty, soon after that all City fans went on the internet to complain about the referees. Real Madrid manager, just like Mourinho, wrote history this season by winning the La Liga title, Carlo Ancelotti has become the first manager to win every title from the top 5 leagues in Europe.

A lot has happened in fact, with summer coming, there was a spark in water sports. Recently, there has been a European Freestyle Pro Tour Championship in windsurfing. Surprisingly, of all countries the "opening season" Tournament was placed in a small lake to the south-west of Vienna in Austria. For those who don't know, Austria is a country that has a wide windsurfing community. In fact, the lake in which the championship occurred is well known for having the most popular windsurfing events. Coming back to the event, we have seen multiple extraordinary performances from the "creme de la creme'' of the windsurfing freestyle community. As you can see on the picture, the skills of the windsurfers were high above average. The person doing the sequence is PawełPalichleb, a Polish representative on the EFPT championships. Unfortunately, he claimed second last place, but to win a freestyle tournament is extremely hard, since a little wind gust can make you fail your sequence. Paweł fell out in the first part of the elimination ladder. He competed with Eugenio Marconi which placed 11 places higher than him, so I suppose it was a tough competition. The final standings on the podium were as follows: Jacopo Testa (from Italy) in first place, YentelCaers (from Belgium) in second place, and Dieter Van der Eyken (from Belgium as well.) Overall, I believe it was a successful championship, as Paweł competed in a professional tournament for the first time.
