5 Healthy Tips

5 Healthy Tips for students

Everyone knows that the school year is a stressful time with all the assignments, responsibilities and due dates. We tend to focus on completing our tasks and often forget about our own well-being. Here I prepared a few tips that could help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and balance your work with a little bit of rest.

1. Eat more whole foods

This may seem as something obvious but many people struggle with eating normal meals during the school week. Students are often in a hurry in the morning and tend to skip breakfast and later rely on snacks to keep them energized during the day.

Try to plan your meals and remember to eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, and drink a lot of water to supply your body with all the nutrients it needs.

2. Get more sleep

For teenagers getting a good amount of sleep might seem as something impossible, however it is crucial to give your organism the rest it needs. Try organizing your work in a better way so that you get at least 7-9 hours of sleep a day. Being well rested will not only make you feel better but will also improve your academic performance.

How to sleep better?

Try decreasing screen time before bed, cut back on caffeine, and go to bed at a reasonable hour.

3. Exercise

Doing some physical activity is proven to stimulate the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These brain chemicals play an important part in regulating your mood and making you feel better. Remember that you have to find way to move a little after sitting in a desk for the whole day! And activity is also a part of CAS.

4. Find some “me” time

It is important to not only work and get good grades but also to find some time for yourself. Do what makes you happy no matter if it is hanging out with your friends, sports, listening to music, watching Netflix, cooking or just simply taking a break from everything. Remember there has to be balance in everything and working nonstop will not be beneficial.

5. Take care you your mental health

With the cold season coming up and the depressive weather sometimes people become more exposed to feeling sad and loosing motivation. Remember to take care of your mental health and try finding happiness in what you do. Having someone trusted you can always talk to is very important.

To sum it up, all of these simple things can greatly improve your health, concentration and overall well-being. I know that all of the tips above are something we all know but don’t really bother to apply in our everyday lives. I hope that this article will motivate you to live a healthier lifestyle.
