I love Greece. My family has always been going there for holidays during summer. The island of Rhodes especially feels like my home and is close to my heart. So, I decided to share the joy I feel when I am in my favorite place in the world, and write about the best landmarks to see while visiting Rhodes, or maybe to encourage you to go there!
The first place you should visit is the Old Town. Actually, it’s not one place, but a combination of historical venues to walk around as the monuments of the Medieval City of Rhodes (Grand Master Palace, Street of the Knights, churches, and more) are well-preserved; restaurants to eat the best meals at (and there are many with variety of food); shops, not just with trinkets, but also local products (e.g., from local olive or honey); and museums (e.g., Archeological Museum). There is enough to do for many evenings, so you definitely won’t get bored!
Next on my list, there are some monuments to see. Tourists come to Greece not just for food (obviously), but also to see the relicts of the past, which Rhodes offers many of! The Acropoleis’ of Rhodes and of Lindos give an insight into the ancient architecture that you can freely experience, and there really is no feeling like knowing you’re standing in the same spot someone else did centuries ago.
Lastly, beaches of Rhodes! There are many you can spend quality time on, but I settled on three options that I think are the best. The first one is Anthony Quinn Bay, a sand-and-rocks beach with beautiful views. From cliffs to clear, see-through turquoise water, it’s a great place to rest and watch sunsets. Tsambika is a sand beach with wide shore and pleasant view of the cliffs, while Prasonisi is a hot spot for wind-surfers and kite-surfers due to its wind. We should not forget about Kallithea, which truly is a must-see. It’s a beautiful resting spot with quality service all around and art deco architecture that offers unforgettable experience and view.
Of course, there is much more to talk about, but looking at these choices, I think it’s clear that Rhodes is a perfect destination for a time well spent!
